Roots and matters close to our hearts

We have been developing organic products since 1972, and we have had our hearts and passion in it the whole way. We have always fought for a sustainable world and for products that live up to our points of view. And we are not even tired yet! Because we can see that it is worthwhile. We will continue our fight for organic products. And we will do this with focus on innovation, quality, health and responsibility.

 

Wind, water and CO2

At Urtekram, we obviously consume quite a bit of electricity to make sure that our offices are lit and that our packaging machines and cold stores are running.
So even if we constantly do everything possible to minimise our electricity consumption level, we are unable to reach a level of zero.
We are, however, able to select the most environmentally friendly type of electricity available on the market – renewable energy – which is what we have been doing for several years.

Back in 1997, we became shareholders of a windmill park located in Western Jutland, and we still own these shares in an effort to support Danish wind power. Today, however, our entire electricity consumption is covered by hydropower from the Swedish rivers. This is an environmentally friendly choice that we strengthen even further by purchasing CO2 quota.

In order to make entirely sure that we are in fact making a difference to the environment, we destroy those purchased CO2 quota. In this way, nobody else is able to use them to emit CO2 and damage the global climate.
