We produce our body care series in Mariager ourselves. However, some of the Urtekram foodstuffs are imported from abroad.

Whereas some of these items are raw materials that are not grown in Denmark, we also import certain items from other countries because those items have the best taste and are of the best quality within the organic market.

We are fully aware that transport through Europe or across the oceans has an impact on the environment. Therefore, we have been working hard for several years to make sure that our transport causes the lowest possible amount of CO2 emission.

In certain cases, this has caused us to change the means of transport applied. As an example, we now pick up our Italian oils, rice, pasta, tomato products etc. by train, thereby causing less damage to the environment than if we would still let our trucks drive up and down the highways the way they did it just a few years ago.

The majority of our transport, however, is by ship. Our figs, apricots and raisins from Turkey arrive by container vessel and the same holds true for our sesame seeds from Uganda and the sugar from Brazil.
