Roots and matters close to our hearts

We have been developing organic products since 1972, and we have had our hearts and passion in it the whole way. We have always fought for a sustainable world and for products that live up to our points of view. And we are not even tired yet! Because we can see that it is worthwhile. We will continue our fight for organic products. And we will do this with focus on innovation, quality, health and responsibility.

 

Coffee with dignity

Urtekram UCIRI coffee is organic and roasted on pure Arabica beans from the Sierra Juárez Mountains in Mexico.
It was also one of the first Fairtrade products to be introduced onto the Danish market, i.e. products that are grown in democratic communities where people and the environment are treated with the same amount of care, and where solidarity is the leading principle.This means that those families, who earn their living by growing and harvesting coffee beans, work in fair conditions and receive a minimum price for their goods.“We are not wretched”, they say, “but we are poor people defending our dignity”.
This coffee has been available in Denmark since 1987, when the grassroots organisation U-landsimporten introduced it; however, it is now sold by Urtekram.
We support Fairtrade because this system provides people with a financial safety net and proper social circumstances whilst giving nature a chance at the same time.
