Roots and matters close to our hearts

We have been developing organic products since 1972, and we have had our hearts and passion in it the whole way. We have always fought for a sustainable world and for products that live up to our points of view. And we are not even tired yet! Because we can see that it is worthwhile. We will continue our fight for organic products. And we will do this with focus on innovation, quality, health and responsibility.

 

CO2 - as much as 30 Danes

In cooperation with the University Aalborg, Urtekram has calculated our CO2 emission level because we want to reduce our ecological footprint as much as possible. So far, this cooperation has led to one specific result that will serve as the basis of future efforts:

in 2008, Urtekram emitted 300 metric tons of CO2 through our activities in Mariager.

In comparison, the average Dane emits 10 metric tons of CO2 a year, and the average American reaches the double amount at 20 metric tons of CO2 a year. The average African, however, emits less than 1 metric tons of CO2 a year.

Our next challenge is to calculate the CO2 burden stemming from transporting raw materials from our suppliers to Urtekram in Mariager. We are working on this calculation. We work to ensure that the majority of transport from suppliers to Urtekram is undertaken by ship, which is the most CO2-friendly type of transport per kilo of goods, and that we receive no raw materials by air transport, which creates the highest levels of CO2 emissions.
